Emmy's Birth

Alright, Emmy's birth. It has been almost three weeks now since we had Emmy.  I had no idea what to expect this time around.  With Kenna, my water just broke.  I had no contractions before hand, no braxton hicks. Nothing.  My water just broke and we headed to the hospital and I was in instant labor.  22 hours later. Kenna was born.  I pushed 5 hours on and off with Kenna because her cord was wrapped around her neck and her heart rate kept dropping.  Wufta.  This time things went a lot better and faster:)  YAY.

I started having contractions on Wednesday night.  I thought they were contractions, but they didn't hurt a lot so I wasn't sure. The next day on Thursday morning while I was getting ready for work I told Travis that I thought I was having contractions.  Well I went to school and continued to have contractions throughout the day.  I timed them and they would be anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes apart.  At the beginning of the day, the contractions were not too painful.  As the day went on, they got more uncomfortable.  Overall, I just didn't feel well. I was tired and didn't want to teach third graders while I walked around having contractions.  It was a long day and I was super emotional.  After school, I went and picked up Kenna and we headed to the grocery store to pick up a couple items.  I bought a pineapple to help get labor going if I truly was in labor.  LOL. I figured it was worth a shot.  I didn't want to teach all day Friday with contractions.  We went home and Travis and I ate the whole pineapple.  I read online that a bath would either help get contractions going or stop false contractions so I decided to hop in the bath tub for awhile.  While I was in the bath tub my contractions completely stopped.  Then as soon as I got out of the bath tub they started again.  Labor is a funny thing.  I still didn't believe I was in labor.  We put Kenna to bed and I tried to relax for a little while.  Starting at 8 o'clock. My contractions picked up and started to become more painful.  They were mostly in my hips and back.  The contractions were any where from 2 minutes to 5 minutes apart.  By 9 o'clock they hurt pretty bad so Travis had me call the nurse to see if we should come in.  I had group b strep so we had to get there four hours before I delivered to get antibiotics.   The nurse said head to the hospital.

So we woke up Kenna and packed all of our stuff in the car and headed to the hospital.  We weren't sure if we would be checked in or not, but we had my dad come and meet us at the hospital to pick up Kenna.  We got to the hospital at about 10 o'clock.  The nurse hooked me up to the machines and the doctor came in to check me.  I was at a 3 to 4 and was making good progress. YAY we were staying and having a baby.  I kissed Kenna goodbye and she left to go to papa and nana's house.  My contractions continued to get worse and things got pretty painful pretty quick.  I tried different positions and Trav was a great couch. I was in so much pain I thought I could rip out my hair.  It was midnight and I was already exhausted.  After teaching all day and having contractions I was wore out. The nurse came in and I asked to get checked to see if I made any progress. I was at a 5.  So I was making progress, but decided to get an epidural. I honestly don't know how people have natural births. I thought my body was going to burst apart.  Once I got my epidural I felt a lot better and finally got excited to have a baby.  Before the epidural I was just worried about labor and the pain and trying to make it through.  We tried to sleep from there and the nurse came back at 3:00 a.m. to check me.  REMIND ME the next time to not have a child in the weee hours of the morning.  At 3:00 I was at a 10:), but they wanted to wait another half hour to let the antibiotics finish up.  So we patiently wait to have our baby, so excited to find out if it was a boy or girl.  At 3:30 the nurse started to set everything up for pushing and for the baby's arrival.  Another woman in the hospital was having a baby so the OB doctor was going to come to our room right when she was done.  Time slowly passed and it was 4:00 and then 4:30 and then 5:00.  The other woman was having complications and the doctor couldn't make it back into our room until a little after 5.  We got everything ready to start pushing and then waited for a contraction and nothing, we sat there and watched the machine and still nothing. My doctor mentioned something about pitocin and I said that I might feel one coming. So the doctor said lets just try to push.  So I started pushing and the doctor said stop and Travis told me that the baby's head was already half out.  The doctor told me to wait for another contraction, but then just told me to push and one more push and our baby entered the world. Travis got to announce we had a girl. Kenna now has an instant best friend for life. There is nothing like a sisterly bond and I couldn't be more happy!!!

IT'S A GIRL!!!

We have a little baby girl.  I gave birth to Emmy Lynn Helland on January 23rd, 2015 at 5:30 a.m.  I was 38 weeks and 6 days along.  She was 6 lbs 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.   We are so incredibly blessed.   Here is a picture before I blab anymore!
Our little sweetie

I have so much to write about my labor, how it is going with a 2nd baby, and postpartum this time around.  Can't wait to fill you all in.  Now that I have my head on my shoulders and am recuperating from having a baby, I will have more time to blog.  Chat with you all soon! Also here is my 38 week post that I didn't get a chance to post.

Another week has come and gone.  I am still growing and becoming more tired everyday, although that will not change when the baby comes, but at least I can look at my cute baby instead of just carry it around in my tummy.

How far along?  38 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 22/23 Pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes, but I would live in my sweat pants if I could.
Stretch Marks? I think I have one. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if more come.  I swear I can feel my stomach stretching. It is sooo tight.
Best Moment: Weekly doctor appointments, being one day closer to meeting the baby, and the weather is above zero degrees! YAY
Miss Anything: Sleeping through the night, working out, not being tired, drinking as much caffeine as I please, being comfortable siting on the couch, and my patience.
Movement: Yes, but there is not much room left in my stomach.  I do not feel the baby as much.
Food cravings:  hmmmm, nothing specific. Chocolate after every meal.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week
Have you started to show yet? YES
Labor Signs: Still no braxton hicks or contractions.  My doctor checked me on Tuesday and I had not progressed from the week before.
Belly button in or out? Popped, it looks pretty funny in some of my clothes.
Gender:GUESSES?? I am going to guess January 24th, Boy- 7lbs 8oz. lol. That is my guess.  Travis thinks Jan 28th, Girl 6lbs 11oz.
Wedding ring on or off? Still on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Impatient and tired.
Looking forward to:
The packer game. GO PACK GO.  Hopefully it is a good game.  I am also looking forward to another doctor appointment.

37 Weeks- FULL TERM

37 Weeks- 2nd Baby
39 + weeks- 1st Baby (Kenna)

Yay, for being full term. I can't believe we are down to three weeks. At first, I was like alright lets get this baby out, I am done being pregnant.  Then last night, I had a change of heart.  I am okay with being pregnant and want to take these last couple of weeks to love up on Kenna as much as I can.  Her world is about to change forever, as well as ours.  I love her to pieces and want her to know that even when the new baby comes.  I had so much anxiety and worry about having two kiddos, but then last night I was thinking of my sisters and how much I love them and how they are my best friends.  That is what I am giving Kenna, is a life long best friend. Someone she can get into trouble with, play with, cry with, laugh with, and celebrate all of the good times and bad times life brings us.  So even though, she might be sad at first because the baby takes up a lot of time I know in the long run she will be so happy to have a sibling- girl or boy!  So, as much as I am done being pregnant, and feeling tired, and uncomfortable, and crabby, I am going to try to change my outlook of these next couple weeks and focus on fun things I can do with Kenna, and soak up all time with her I can.

This week was a nice week. A little cold, -38 is not my cup of tea.  Makes me ask myself 20 times a day why do I live in Wisconsin, why do I live in Wisconsin, WHY DO I LIVE IN WISCONSIN?  The only reason I stay here is for my family!  They better feel appreciated. lol.  I finally got my lesson plans done for my maternity leave and met with my long term sub.  She is ready to go! Wufta. I just checked one thing off my list of the 20 things I need to get done at school before I take maternity leave.  Everything else this week went great.  It was nice to meet with my doctor.  Everything is still looking good, so we are going to let the baby keep growing:)  The baby's heart rate was 145 and my belly was measuring right on. I am officially larger than when I gave birth to Kenna at 39+ weeks. I will post a picture. I am feeling the bigger belly as well. I am definitely more uncomfortable this time around. Tired, crabby, I get super hot and sick feeling, can't sit on the couch, have a hard time shaving my legs, struggle to keep my balance and put on my shoes. So many fun things about being pregnant!  I am going to finish the rest of the weekend with some shopping and watching the PACKERS! GO PACK GO! Have a great weekend everyone.

How far along?  37 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 22/23 Pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes. I am running out of clothes that fit my growing belly.
Stretch Marks? zero so far- Thought I spotted one on my lower belly, but can't find it today.  It is hard to see under my belly though.
Best Moment: Doctor Visit and hitting 37 weeks- Baby can come at any time now and he or she will be healthy:)
Miss Anything: Sleeping through the night, working out, not being tired, drinking as much caffeine as I please, being comfortable siting on the couch.
Movement: Yes, the babe is running out of room though.  His/Her movements are less and my whole stomach moves.
Food cravings:  Not much this week. Veggies just sound terrible.  Any type of bread or grain is always good;)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week
Have you started to show yet? Oh ya, girl I think my belly got big.
Labor Signs: Nothing- no braxton hicks or contractions.  The doctor checked me at my 36 week appointment and I was 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced. I know that it doesn't mean anything, but heck I am 1 cm closer to 10. When my water broke with Kenna I was barely a 1/2 cm dilated and I am not sure I was even effaced.
Belly button in or out? Popped
Gender:GUESSES?? I am going to guess January 24th, Boy- 7lbs 8oz. lol. That is my guess.  Travis thinks Jan 29th, Girl 6lbs 11oz.
Wedding ring on or off? Still on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: MOODY, crabby, tired, and uncomfortable.  The negative degree weather here has got us cooped up and it is starting to drive me crazy.
Looking forward to:
SPENDING TIME WITH KENNA GIRL! Being one week closer to meeting our baby girl or boy.  Getting caught up at school, cleaning the house, finalizing things for whenever the baby arrives, and having a baby

36 Weeks

Another week down. It is hard to believe that I am in the last month of pregnancy.  This pregnancy went by way faster than the first one.  I still cant believe that our family is going to go from a family of 3 to a family of 4.  I feel so blessed. Kenna is going to be the best big sister.  She is so caring and helpful.  She will just love the new little baby. For baby news, I am still waiting to get my blood levels back from two weeks ago.  With the holidays they got really far behind.  I am guessing the bile levels will still be good:) So then we have a normal appointment on Tuesday!! I am also very curious to see how big this baby is. I had a dream it was a boy and it weighed 8lbs 8 ounces and had I it on the 8th, 18th, or 28th of January. So we will see how accurate dreams are;)

This week, we laid low and stayed in the house a lot.  My husband and I, went on a date. We never go on dates, so it was really nice. We went to a movie, out to eat, and then to our friends house for some games.  It was a lot of fun. We went and saw Hunger Games 3.  It was really good. I read all of the books so I was interested in how they were going to turn book three into a movie. I think they did a really good job.

How far along?  36 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 21 Pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes. Right now I have been living in yoga pants and sweatpants all day. When school restarts Monday, I will be a sad girl.

35 Weeks

34 Weeks

35 Weeks
Alright folks, sorry I have been mia these last couple weeks. School was kicking my butt. I was trying to get things ready for Christmas for my family and for my kids at school. I was also trying to get a ton of assessing and grading done, to get my new groups started in January for whenever my long term sub comes, but I am finally on break now:) YAY. Last week, we had 6 Christmas's and they were all wonderful.  Having a child makes Christmas 100 times more fun. Kenna loves the lights, the tree, decorating cookies, eating cookies, opening presents, wrapping presents, playing with bows, and getting new toys of course. lol. She honestly makes Christmas so much fun.

We have been crazy busy, after the Helland Christmas on Friday, we drove down to Milwaukee to see Travis's brother, his wife, and their brand new baby.  Logan, was born on Monday, December 22nd.  This is Kenna's first cousin on Trav's side.  This is also her 6th boy cousin overall.  She is a little outnumbered.  We had a lot of fun in Milwaukee holding the baby, playing games, and enjoying family time. Oh and we watched frozen a couple times.  Kenna got it for Christmas and it's her new favorite movie! I love to listen to her sing. LET IT GO, LET IT GO, NO MORE!  lol. That is about all I can make out when she is singing, but it is pretty dang cute. We finally made it home last night at 11 p.m.

Today we did nothing. We stayed inside all day and cleaned and napped and got the baby room ready.  I went through all the clothes and sorted out the new born clothes.  So we are pretty much ready to go! CRAZY.

As for baby, things are looking great.  I had an ultrasound on Tuesday and the Ultrasound tech said that the baby was measuring a week a head.  So the baby is measuring big! YAY. That is great.  Kenna was a tiny little thing.  The tech also said that the head was down and the baby was in the right position. I also got my blood drawn again and am still waiting on the results.  It usually takes a week to get them and with Christmas I still haven't heard anything.  I am guessing they will be good. My hands have been itching more and usually only at night, but nothing unbearable.  As of right now, my doctor says we can just keep everything normal until my results come back high/if they come back high.  Either way we are ready!

How far along?  35 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 20 Pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes. Things are starting to shrink on me.
Stretch Marks? I haven't spotted any, but I can't believe my belly can keep stretching like it is without getting any.
Best Moment: Christmas:) Another ultrasound! Baby is head down!
Miss Anything: Sleeping through the night, working out, not being tired, drinking as much caffeine as I please
Movement: Yes, a lot at night.
Food cravings:  Cereal always sounds good and taste good, Peanutbutter and honey toast, and any fruit.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week
Have you started to show yet? Oh ya, officially bigger now than when I gave birth to Kenna.
Labor Signs: Nothing
Belly button in or out? POPPED
Gender: I thought a boy, until the ultrasound last Tuesday.  The baby kind of looked like a girl. I didn't see anything to tell me for sure boy or girl, but it kind of looked like a girl.   Wedding ring on or off? Still on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: MOODY, woke up on the wrong side of the bed today Looking forward to:
A week of nothing.  So happy I have this week off from school.  After six Christmas's last week and traveling to Milwaukee last weekend, I am ready to relax.  Looking forward to being full term.  Nothing else exciting happening in January besides hopefully having a baby;)

8 months pregnant

Look at that belly grow. I can't believe I am 8 months pregnant. Soo crazy. I also think it is silly that people trick you all of your life and tell you, you are only pregnant for 9 months. That is a fib. You are pregnant for 10 months. So, I still have 2 months to go. I think it will go by really fast with the holidays. From now until Christmas we have so many fun activities planned I think the time will just fly by.   December is not a bad time to be pregnant.  Everything has been going well.  We are having Kenna's birthday party today with just my family members.  I can't wait to spoil her a little bit.  Right now she is just really excited for her Elmo cupcakes.  I don't think she even knows she gets presents as well. LOL. Little kids are the best.  She fills my heart with so much joy.

As for the baby side of things. I have been feeling really tired.  The kids have been crazy at school. I am blaming it on the full moon and that Christmas is in 2 1/2 weeks away, but man they are wearing me out.  My stomach has also been really icky this week. It just doesn't feel the best. My back also hurts.  Hopefully next week things will calm down.  I head to the doctor Tuesday for my 32 week appointment.  I will get more blood work done and see how things are going from there.

How far along?  32 Weeks

Labor Signs: Nope- nothing
Belly button in or out? Still just the top

31 Weeks Round 2

31 weeks

Kenna had to pose as well- lol- she cracks me up!

It has been awhile. School has been crazy busy and Trav has been hunting, so I haven't had much time to take baby bump pictures or get on here to blog. I also have been really tired and not wanting to do anything when I get home from school. Things have been great. Black Friday shopping was great, I got lots of fun things for Kenna for her birthday and Christmas. We are celebrating Kenna's birthday next weekend.  I am excited for her to get some new toys and be able to open presents.  We do not buy her a lot of toys during the year, so she will be pretty excited!:) Kenna is at such a fun age right now, it makes the holidays so much more fun. I cant wait to decorate the tree with her and make Christmas cookies.

As for pregnancy, things have been great. I am reallllly tired and don't move when I get home from school. Taking care of 25, 8 year olds is really starting to wear me out by the end of the day.  I have officially started going to the doctors once every two weeks. My blood results came back normal as well as my ultrasound!  YAHOO.  So I do not have to go in every week for stress tests and extra ultrasounds.  My hands have also not been itching as much. Maybe this little girl or guy will stay camped out in my belly until his/her due date.  I also passed my 3 hour glucose test with flying colors. I am so thankful this time, I did not get sick.  I am very thankful for how well things have been going.  Only 9 more weeks until we meet our second little peanut. :) Where does the time go.

26 Weeks

I don't have a baby bump picture this week, but a cute picture of Kenna in her lady bug costume;)
I will for sure post a baby one next week.

I hit a breaking point this weekend with everything.  Kenna is definitely two years old and has two year old temper tantrums.  I am definitely pregnant and feeling very tired and exhausted. School is definitely draining right now.  I am definitely over my husband being gone all the time and flipping a house.  lol.  That is what I discovered this weekend.  There were lots of good things this week as well.  This week, I had a doctors appointment that went great. The baby's heartbeat was 140. I am also measuring right on:)  I had bible study with wonderful ladies, my sister and I went and had dinner with my cousin and her new little baby.
