15 weeks and counting

15 weeks
What a week!   It has been a crazy, busy, great week.  Last weekend, I went to Door County for my college roomates bachelorette party.  It was a great weekend seeing the ladies and catching up and having girl talk.  I was not able to participate in all of the events, but bought some bottles of wine to celebrate for when little baby Helland does arrive.  I have really enjoyed telling everyone about the baby and being able to talk about it and hear everyone’s stories.

This week is also my last week of summer school. HECK YES. I have the whole month of July off and I can’t wait.   I also had training this week for my new job for next year.  Next year, I am switching from teaching 8th grade science to teaching 3rd grade at a different school district.  I am very excited to switch and training has got my mind thinking of all the things I want to do in my new classroom, but not until the end of July.  I am just waiting for a break right now.  This week we also had friends over to our house for a bbq which was very nice.  My husband and I decided that we need to start having people over more often. Nothing much new on the baby end of things.  Patiently waiting to feel the little one.

Pregnancy so far

Being pregnant.  When I thought about being pregnant I had all of these misconceptions of what it would be like when I got pregnant.  I thought that I would be able to know instantly that I was pregnant and that I would be sick all the time and that my boobs would get huge (at least hoping so:).  I had the opposite experience. I did not feel pregnant at all.  I was tired, but it was the end of the school year and all teachers are exhausted.  I also had mono in March so I was feeling more awake then the whole month of March.  I never got sick, I never had any food aversions, I felt normal.  That is one of the reasons why we waited until 12 weeks to share our exciting news.  I just couldn't believe that I was growing a baby.  When we would go to our doctors appointment I was never emotionally, I was more in aww that there was a baby in there.  I remember hearing its heartbeat and looking at Travis and saying "I can't believe it's actually in there" lol.  It was such a weird experience.  So all in all I have been very blessed in my pregnancy journey.  I am looking forward to seeing what else is to come.  I also do not think that I have had too many cravings. Some things just taste really good, but PIZZA is always good so I don't consider it a craving.  As for the baby bump.  No bump yet.  I will post pictures from 12 weeks and 13 weeks. Tomorrow marks 14 weeks so I will add 14 weeks tomorrow.  I think it is starting to grow because I can feel some cramping, which I am assuming is my uterus stretching.  So we will see if I start to pop here.

12 weeks
Also, I am working on taking better pictures.  I am not quite sure how to stand.  So the first couple may be akward.

First time mama

Finally our secret is out.  My husband and I are expecting our first baby:) We are  beyond excited and can't wait.  I decided to blog about my experiences of being pregnant in a crazy busy life.  I am 13 1/2  weeks along.

A little bit about how we found out.  It was a couple day before my 25th birthday and I took a pregnancy test while my husband was at work.  I had never taken one before so this was quite the experience. First, I couldn't believe I was taking one and second I couldn't believe what I saw after two minutes.  Sure enough there was a little faint second pink line.  HOLY SMOKES, I was pregnant.  So many emotions went through my mind.  I was very excited, but most of all I couldn't believe I was pregnant.  I had no idea how to tell my husband that we were expecting.  I didn't plan anything fun because I was still in shock.  So as soon as he came home I was standing on the stairs smiling like a little girl and said Travis guess what.  I have something to show you.  When he came upstairs I handed him the pregnancy test and he was like no way.  Then we hugged and kissed and were beyond excited.  I don't think if officially sank in for either of us that we were going to have a little baby.  From there we waited a week or so before we told our immediate families.  Then we had to patiently wait till we hit 12 weeks to tell the world.  And here I am  13.5 weeks along and sharing my first pregnancy experience.

This was how we revealed our secret to the world:)
