Emmy's Birth

Alright, Emmy's birth. It has been almost three weeks now since we had Emmy.  I had no idea what to expect this time around.  With Kenna, my water just broke.  I had no contractions before hand, no braxton hicks. Nothing.  My water just broke and we headed to the hospital and I was in instant labor.  22 hours later. Kenna was born.  I pushed 5 hours on and off with Kenna because her cord was wrapped around her neck and her heart rate kept dropping.  Wufta.  This time things went a lot better and faster:)  YAY.

I started having contractions on Wednesday night.  I thought they were contractions, but they didn't hurt a lot so I wasn't sure. The next day on Thursday morning while I was getting ready for work I told Travis that I thought I was having contractions.  Well I went to school and continued to have contractions throughout the day.  I timed them and they would be anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes apart.  At the beginning of the day, the contractions were not too painful.  As the day went on, they got more uncomfortable.  Overall, I just didn't feel well. I was tired and didn't want to teach third graders while I walked around having contractions.  It was a long day and I was super emotional.  After school, I went and picked up Kenna and we headed to the grocery store to pick up a couple items.  I bought a pineapple to help get labor going if I truly was in labor.  LOL. I figured it was worth a shot.  I didn't want to teach all day Friday with contractions.  We went home and Travis and I ate the whole pineapple.  I read online that a bath would either help get contractions going or stop false contractions so I decided to hop in the bath tub for awhile.  While I was in the bath tub my contractions completely stopped.  Then as soon as I got out of the bath tub they started again.  Labor is a funny thing.  I still didn't believe I was in labor.  We put Kenna to bed and I tried to relax for a little while.  Starting at 8 o'clock. My contractions picked up and started to become more painful.  They were mostly in my hips and back.  The contractions were any where from 2 minutes to 5 minutes apart.  By 9 o'clock they hurt pretty bad so Travis had me call the nurse to see if we should come in.  I had group b strep so we had to get there four hours before I delivered to get antibiotics.   The nurse said head to the hospital.

So we woke up Kenna and packed all of our stuff in the car and headed to the hospital.  We weren't sure if we would be checked in or not, but we had my dad come and meet us at the hospital to pick up Kenna.  We got to the hospital at about 10 o'clock.  The nurse hooked me up to the machines and the doctor came in to check me.  I was at a 3 to 4 and was making good progress. YAY we were staying and having a baby.  I kissed Kenna goodbye and she left to go to papa and nana's house.  My contractions continued to get worse and things got pretty painful pretty quick.  I tried different positions and Trav was a great couch. I was in so much pain I thought I could rip out my hair.  It was midnight and I was already exhausted.  After teaching all day and having contractions I was wore out. The nurse came in and I asked to get checked to see if I made any progress. I was at a 5.  So I was making progress, but decided to get an epidural. I honestly don't know how people have natural births. I thought my body was going to burst apart.  Once I got my epidural I felt a lot better and finally got excited to have a baby.  Before the epidural I was just worried about labor and the pain and trying to make it through.  We tried to sleep from there and the nurse came back at 3:00 a.m. to check me.  REMIND ME the next time to not have a child in the weee hours of the morning.  At 3:00 I was at a 10:), but they wanted to wait another half hour to let the antibiotics finish up.  So we patiently wait to have our baby, so excited to find out if it was a boy or girl.  At 3:30 the nurse started to set everything up for pushing and for the baby's arrival.  Another woman in the hospital was having a baby so the OB doctor was going to come to our room right when she was done.  Time slowly passed and it was 4:00 and then 4:30 and then 5:00.  The other woman was having complications and the doctor couldn't make it back into our room until a little after 5.  We got everything ready to start pushing and then waited for a contraction and nothing, we sat there and watched the machine and still nothing. My doctor mentioned something about pitocin and I said that I might feel one coming. So the doctor said lets just try to push.  So I started pushing and the doctor said stop and Travis told me that the baby's head was already half out.  The doctor told me to wait for another contraction, but then just told me to push and one more push and our baby entered the world. Travis got to announce we had a girl. Kenna now has an instant best friend for life. There is nothing like a sisterly bond and I couldn't be more happy!!!

37 Weeks- FULL TERM

37 Weeks- 2nd Baby
39 + weeks- 1st Baby (Kenna)

Yay, for being full term. I can't believe we are down to three weeks. At first, I was like alright lets get this baby out, I am done being pregnant.  Then last night, I had a change of heart.  I am okay with being pregnant and want to take these last couple of weeks to love up on Kenna as much as I can.  Her world is about to change forever, as well as ours.  I love her to pieces and want her to know that even when the new baby comes.  I had so much anxiety and worry about having two kiddos, but then last night I was thinking of my sisters and how much I love them and how they are my best friends.  That is what I am giving Kenna, is a life long best friend. Someone she can get into trouble with, play with, cry with, laugh with, and celebrate all of the good times and bad times life brings us.  So even though, she might be sad at first because the baby takes up a lot of time I know in the long run she will be so happy to have a sibling- girl or boy!  So, as much as I am done being pregnant, and feeling tired, and uncomfortable, and crabby, I am going to try to change my outlook of these next couple weeks and focus on fun things I can do with Kenna, and soak up all time with her I can.

This week was a nice week. A little cold, -38 is not my cup of tea.  Makes me ask myself 20 times a day why do I live in Wisconsin, why do I live in Wisconsin, WHY DO I LIVE IN WISCONSIN?  The only reason I stay here is for my family!  They better feel appreciated. lol.  I finally got my lesson plans done for my maternity leave and met with my long term sub.  She is ready to go! Wufta. I just checked one thing off my list of the 20 things I need to get done at school before I take maternity leave.  Everything else this week went great.  It was nice to meet with my doctor.  Everything is still looking good, so we are going to let the baby keep growing:)  The baby's heart rate was 145 and my belly was measuring right on. I am officially larger than when I gave birth to Kenna at 39+ weeks. I will post a picture. I am feeling the bigger belly as well. I am definitely more uncomfortable this time around. Tired, crabby, I get super hot and sick feeling, can't sit on the couch, have a hard time shaving my legs, struggle to keep my balance and put on my shoes. So many fun things about being pregnant!  I am going to finish the rest of the weekend with some shopping and watching the PACKERS! GO PACK GO! Have a great weekend everyone.

36 Weeks

Another week down. It is hard to believe that I am in the last month of pregnancy.  This pregnancy went by way faster than the first one.  I still cant believe that our family is going to go from a family of 3 to a family of 4.  I feel so blessed. Kenna is going to be the best big sister.  She is so caring and helpful.  She will just love the new little baby. For baby news, I am still waiting to get my blood levels back from two weeks ago.  With the holidays they got really far behind.  I am guessing the bile levels will still be good:) So then we have a normal appointment on Tuesday!! I am also very curious to see how big this baby is. I had a dream it was a boy and it weighed 8lbs 8 ounces and had I it on the 8th, 18th, or 28th of January. So we will see how accurate dreams are;)

This week, we laid low and stayed in the house a lot.  My husband and I, went on a date. We never go on dates, so it was really nice. We went to a movie, out to eat, and then to our friends house for some games.  It was a lot of fun. We went and saw Hunger Games 3.  It was really good. I read all of the books so I was interested in how they were going to turn book three into a movie. I think they did a really good job.

8 months pregnant

Look at that belly grow. I can't believe I am 8 months pregnant. Soo crazy. I also think it is silly that people trick you all of your life and tell you, you are only pregnant for 9 months. That is a fib. You are pregnant for 10 months. So, I still have 2 months to go. I think it will go by really fast with the holidays. From now until Christmas we have so many fun activities planned I think the time will just fly by.   December is not a bad time to be pregnant.  Everything has been going well.  We are having Kenna's birthday party today with just my family members.  I can't wait to spoil her a little bit.  Right now she is just really excited for her Elmo cupcakes.  I don't think she even knows she gets presents as well. LOL. Little kids are the best.  She fills my heart with so much joy.

As for the baby side of things. I have been feeling really tired.  The kids have been crazy at school. I am blaming it on the full moon and that Christmas is in 2 1/2 weeks away, but man they are wearing me out.  My stomach has also been really icky this week. It just doesn't feel the best. My back also hurts.  Hopefully next week things will calm down.  I head to the doctor Tuesday for my 32 week appointment.  I will get more blood work done and see how things are going from there.

How far along?  32 Weeks

Food cravings:  Nothing this week
Anything making you queasy or sick: My stomach still does not feel the best.

31 Weeks Round 2

31 weeks

Kenna had to pose as well- lol- she cracks me up!

It has been awhile. School has been crazy busy and Trav has been hunting, so I haven't had much time to take baby bump pictures or get on here to blog. I also have been really tired and not wanting to do anything when I get home from school. Things have been great. Black Friday shopping was great, I got lots of fun things for Kenna for her birthday and Christmas. We are celebrating Kenna's birthday next weekend.  I am excited for her to get some new toys and be able to open presents.  We do not buy her a lot of toys during the year, so she will be pretty excited!:) Kenna is at such a fun age right now, it makes the holidays so much more fun. I cant wait to decorate the tree with her and make Christmas cookies.

As for pregnancy, things have been great. I am reallllly tired and don't move when I get home from school. Taking care of 25, 8 year olds is really starting to wear me out by the end of the day.  I have officially started going to the doctors once every two weeks. My blood results came back normal as well as my ultrasound!  YAHOO.  So I do not have to go in every week for stress tests and extra ultrasounds.  My hands have also not been itching as much. Maybe this little girl or guy will stay camped out in my belly until his/her due date.  I also passed my 3 hour glucose test with flying colors. I am so thankful this time, I did not get sick.  I am very thankful for how well things have been going.  Only 9 more weeks until we meet our second little peanut. :) Where does the time go.

How far along?  31 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 18 Pounds- could be more my scale broke- lol.

Miss Anything:Not being tired. Everything I do, I am tired:(

Food cravings:  The other day I saw chicken wings on tv and thought they looked delicious. I don't even like chicken wings. lol. Salty food just sounded and looked really good!

Symptoms: Tired, heartburn, swelling, and back aches
Have you started to show yet? Yes- quite a bit more than with Kenna
Labor Signs: Nope- Not even braxton hicks
Belly button in or out? The top has popped pretty good, I don't know if the bottom will pop. I got my gull bladder removed when I was in college and I have a scar on the bottom of my belly button, so I don't know if that will affect it or not.
Gender:  My guess is still a boy- but will not be surprised if it is a girl.
Wedding ring on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional
Looking forward to: Christmas break, Christmas, time with  my family, celebrating the Christmas season with my kids at school (God please grant me patience, they are like squirrels at this time), making Christmas cookies with Kenna. Lots of fun things planned with our friends this month, get our Christmas tree, and so much more:)

24 weeks:)

6 Months- 24 weeks:)

This week was exhausting.  I had parent teacher conferences. So, on Thursday, I had kids until 1:50 and then had parent teacher conferences from 2:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. I was super tired out the next morning when we got up for school.  After school on Friday, Trav, Kenna, and I went out to eat. I was craving a steak and I was too tired to cook.  Saturday, Trav spent working and Kenna and I cleaned the house and ran errands.  Saturday night we had friends over for dinner and games. It was so much fun. They are such wonderful people.  Sunday, we did some grocer shopping and getting Kenna new shoes.  I swear her feet grow soo fast.  Another week has flown by. This baby will be here in less than 3 months. AWWW. Sometimes I am so excited and sometimes I am scared. lol. You forget how tiny those little babies are.  I am also worried about how Kenna will adjust.  I am trying to soak up these last couple months with her and give her my complete attention. In the end, I feel so blessed to give Kenna a sibling.  It truly is a miracle to have a baby.

I used to run in college and just ran so much, that when I was done I didnt want to run for awhile. I am guessing when I get the chance to run in 3 months I probably wont want to anymore lol.

This week we had a really long week of school. The weather was kind of crumby so the students weren't able to go outside for recess everyday. I was just tired out.  I have been doing too much grading at night and staying up too late.  This weekend, we went and bought a new suv:) Woot Woot. We got a Nissan Pathfinder. I love it.  I will post a picture next week.  Saturday, Trav worked on his other house and Kenna and I did a little shopping.  I was looking for some skinny maternity jeans and didn't have much success.  Sunday we celebrated my nephews first birthday.  School work for the rest of the night and laying low.

22 Weeks

22 Weeks
You would think that once summer was over that we would be less busy, but that is not the case.  This weekend was another busy week.  On Monday, we started our bible study.  It is great to take time to talk with some wonderful ladies to talk about God.  Thursday we went to a comedy club for our friends' birthday. We had a great time. It felt good to get out with our friends. We dont get to do it very often and the comedians were pretty good.  On Friday morning we left for Green bay for my roommates wedding.  It was so great seeing all of my roommates from college. They are amazing friends. On Saturday night we drove back. Sunday is church, grocery shopping, running errands, watching the packers, school work, and cleaning.

For baby news. Everything is going great. Our ultrasound was measuring right on our due date. Baby is growing and is very healthy.  After the ultrasound we met with our doctor. We talked about the plan for the rest of the pregnancy and what we were going to do because I have cholestasis.  My next appointment at 24 weeks will be normal.  At 28 weeks I will have the glucose test and an additional ultrasound to make sure baby is still growing great.  Then starting at 32 weeks I will go into the doctor twice a week.  I will get an ultrasound one of the times and baby monitoring the second time.  Then between 36 weeks and 37 weeks I will be induced. WOWZA. That will come quick. So that will put our new due date the week of January 6th. So we will get to see lots of baby and I wont have to be pregnant for 40 weeks:) Our ultrasound picture looks a lot different from Kenna so it will be interesting to see if it is a boy or if it is a girl that just looks a lot different than Kenna.

New Baby
Little Kenna

I would love to hear if you think it is a girl or boy.  Any guesses?
How far along?  22 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: up 9 to 10 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes, I should just wear them all the time. Normal clothes are very uncomfortable. I should honestly not even try to fit into regular clothes. Regular clothes are not mean to be worn while pregnant.  Just that simple.
Stretch Marks? zero so far
Best Moment:  Having our ultrasound on Monday.
Miss Anything:  Energy.
Movement:  I feel like I have been so busy that I dont feel the baby as often. I am always up and moving so it is harder to feel the little guy or girl.
Food cravings:  Just hungry. Eating a lot.   OHHH ya White Pumpkin Mocha from Caribou coffee. I AM IN LOVE!
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Not a bad week.
Symptoms: Tired, feeling really full. My food seems to be just hanging out in my stomach more.
Have you started to show yet? Yes, Yes, and Yes. More than I did with Kenna.
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly button in or out? In, but looking different.
Gender: We had our ultrasound this week, but we didn't find out.  We also didn't see any signs. I will still guess boy. I will be more surprised if it is a boy, because I already have a girl and that's just what you get used too.
Wedding ring on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Good week, just tired out.
Looking forward to: October- Fall- Leaves, Corn Husks, Pumpkin patch, pumpkin anything and everything, white pumpkin mocha's, Halloween, Thanksgiving, BLACK FRIDAY, so many other wonderful things.

21 Weeks

Holy smokes, this week kicked my butt. Over the weekend Kenna and I ran errands, visited with my dad and stepmom, and went to the apple orchard with my mom, sisters, and nephews. We had a great time at the apple orchard. Kenna loved it.  She could eat all the apples and raspberries she wanted, they had a bouncy house, play ground, and tire mountain. I dont know what kid wouldnt love it.  While at the apple orchard I also got stung by a bee. OUCH. $%#@ Bee stings hurt soooo bad. You forget how much they suck. After the bee sting I decided that I might be slightly allergic. My hand swelled up for three days and then has been extremely itchy since. :(

During the week we were super busy.  On Monday, we went shopping for the house Travis is flipping.  On Tuesday we went to Eric Church.  He was SOO AWESOME.  Travis and I, haven't been on a date or have done anything fun in a really long time.  It was exactly what we needed. We had a great time.  Then on Wednesday, I had an oil class. Wufta. By Thursday I was shot. Then Friday we had my sisters open house for work and a 50th birthday party. The work week could not get over fast enough. I was worn out.  This weekend we are doing a little shopping, cleaning, and resting. We will be Patiently waiting for our ultrasound on Monday! :)  My bump looks much bigger in real life.

How far along?  21 weeks-
Total weight gain/loss: up 8 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes, for the most part. I am still wearing mine jeans and some of my shirts. My leggings came and I hate them lol. They fit so weird.  Does anyone have a good recommendation for comfy pregnancy leggings you love??
Stretch Marks? zero so far
Best Moment:  Feeling the little boy or girl move more and more.

20 Weeks- half way there

Half way there. I cant believe it. The second pregnancy does go by a lot faster.  Most of the time I don't even have time to remember I am pregnant.   We had a great week last week.   On Saturday we went garage saling with my dad and step mom.  Then Kenna and I, napped the rest of the day.  Very well needed. We were both fighting a cold.  On Sunday we went to church and then out to eat.  Trav then came home from his flipping house job early and we went to the park and went on a walk.  It was wonderful:)  We had so much fun playing with Kenna at the park.  She really is such a sweet little girl.

The second week of school went well. Still working on routines and just getting into teaching. I am also still trying to get all of my ducks in a row and get things organized.
